Plasmon-Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution on Specific Facet of Silver Nanocrystals

Abstract: Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from electrocatalytic water splitting is a prospective technology to supply clean energy with low environmental impact for the future. In this work, plasmonic silver nanocubes (AgNCs) with (100) facet and silver nanooctahedra (AgNOs) with (111) facet were applied as the light-harvesting catalysts for enhancing hydrogen production in the plasmon-activated HER electrochemical system. As light harvesters, AgNCs and AgNOs can efficiently absorb light ranging from ultraviolet to ne… Show more

“…To solve serious pollution issues and create efficient green energy, the hydrogen evolution with metal catalysts , and a supercapacitor (SC) with high power density is considered to be important to develop. Fiber-type energy storage devices have been widely developed in recent years as the energy source of soft electronics. To fit the high-rate charge/discharge requirement, the SC with high power density is considered to be one of the promising energy storage devices for soft electronics. , Other than the energy storage ability, the flexibility and stretchability are indispensable for an efficient fiber-type solid-state SC (FSC).…”

“…They themselves can simultaneously harvest light to excite hot electrons as well as provide active sites for redox reactions. [ 215 ] Therefore, they are compelling candidate materials toward light‐assisted water electrolysis without compromising material cost. In addition, these materials help to circumvent complicated fabrication process of hybrid structures, which is conducive to the implementation of efficient yet simple water‐splitting systems.…”
