PM10 and CO Dispersion Modeling of Emissions from the Four Thermal Power Plants in Mashhad-Iran

Abstract: In this study, we present an evaluation of the (PM 10 ) and carbon monoxide (CO) particulate matter exposure level originated from the four power plants in the area using Air Pollution Dispersion Model. Combined use of AREMOD (The American Meteorological Society/Environmental Protection Agency Regulatory Model), ArcGIS and health risk assessment were applied to estimate the level of pollution in thirteen municipal receptors in the city. The results indicated the long-range transport of the pollutants from the … Show more

“…The coal-based energy industry in Türkiye is at the center of air pollution and quality concerns and emits various pollutants such as particulate matter, ozone (O 3 ), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), sulphur dioxide (SO 2 ), methane (CH 4 ), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and over 80 hazardous air pollutants such as lead, arsenic, and benzene (Filonchyk & Peterson, 2023;Meikandaan et al, 2019;Moharreri et al, 2020;Xie et al, 2021;Xu et al, 2022;Zhou et al, 2023). Among these emissions, the main components of the stack gas from a coal fired power plant are CO 2 and CO.…”
