“…The present essay's selected poems, "To Helen" and "Lenore", have been explored from a variety of different perspectives. Roy Flickinger (1934) and Paul Baum (1949) were two of the first academics that connected Poe's "To Helen" to Helen of Troy. My own interpretation of these two poems is indebted to Kenneth Silverman's 1991 study of Poe's life and works-one aspect of his study was to delineate the Hellenic references that seem to have been employed in these particular poems.…”
