Polarization analysis in the 3–25 keV range at the ESRF magnetic scattering beamline

Abstract: The ESRF magnetic scattering beamline has been optimized for easy tunability of the polarization and energy in the 3±40 keV range. The linear horizontal polarization from the undulator reaches 99.9%, with a¯ux of $10 12 photons s À1 at the sample. The diffractometer can operate in horizontal and vertical geometries, with an energy or polarization analyser. The capabilities of this beamline in terms of¯ux, energy tunability and polarization, permitted polarization analysis of resonant magnetic scattering from a… Show more

“…Theoretical models suggest that the resonance is due to 1s→4p electric-dipole transitions, the splitting of the 4p states being mainly due to the JT distortion that accompanies the orbital ordering. 26 -28 The experiments have been performed on the ID20 beamline 29 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility ͑ESRF͒ in Grenoble, France. The spectrometer exploits the third-harmonic emission of a 42-mm-period undulator device.…”

“…7 Experiments were performed at the magnetic scattering beamline ID20 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility ͑ESRF͒. 12 Photons were received from two undulators ͑42-mm period͒. The beamline optics contains a doublecrystal monochromator located in between two mirrors.…”

“…The experiments reported in this paper were performed at the ID20 [5] and XMaS beam lines of the ESRF, Grenoble, France. At both beam lines, a double crystal, Si(111), monochromator selects the appropriate x-ray energy, harmonics of higher incident energy are eliminated by the use of mirrors, and the scattering plane was vertical with s-incident photon polarization.…”
