Abstract:An optical-mechanical model has been developed to describe the transmittance, polarization and small-angle distribution of light scattered by an uniaxially-stretched polymer film containing the elongated ellipsoidal droplets of nematic liquid crystal. It is based on the approximations of Foldy-Twersky, anomalous diffraction, and single scattering. The spectral dependences of transmittances and polarizing abilities of the polymer dispersed liquid crystal films have been analyzed as well as the small-angle inten… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
