Abstract:A new kind of polarizing beamsplitters (PBSs) based on the effects of a birefringent and resonance anomaly is presented. Its properties are analyzed using the correct Fourier modal method and the reflective and transmissive coefficient matrix (RTCM) recursion method. Two examples, one for the IR and the other for the visible, are given. An extremely high polarization extinction ratio is obtained in transmitting space. The effects of small variations in the parameters of the PBSs performance are also investigat… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
