Show more

“…Furthermore, obtained data showed seasonal differences in the concentrations of Fe, Mn and Zn with higher values in rainy season than in the dry season for the first two metals. This finding is in agreement with previous studies (Chouti et al 2010;Gouin, 2016;Ouro-Sama, 2019). The contributions due to the erosion of the geological matrix and the introduction of leachates and effluents via run-off could explained higher concentrations of chemical elements in rainy season.…”

“…These are of great concern from the public health point of view, and being environmental pollutants it can occur naturally in the environment and can come from industrial or agricultural sources [1]. Thus, the contamination of aquatic ecosystems by toxic substances remains a serious more and more worryingly environmental problem [2]. Anthropogenic activities have been shown to be the main contributors to degradation of aquatic ecosystems' quality whose sediments are real reservoirs of pollutant accumulation [3][4][5].…”

“…The dissolved oxygen levels obtained in the waters of the Aghien Lagoon and the Djibi River are particularly distinguished. The high concentrations of dissolved oxygen (greater than 6 mg/L) in the waters of the Aghien lagoon indicate eutrophication of these waters caused by intense photosynthetic activity (IBGE, 2005), whereas, those of Djibi (between 1 and 2 mg/L) show a strong pollution of this water. This pollution is caused by the direct dumping of the sewage effluents from Abobo and Anyama, into the Djibi River.…”

“…In Africa, especially in Côte d'Ivoire, lagoon environment is generally the outlet of pollution. Sewage treatment plants of urban lagoons have failed so that environment becomes vulnerable to continental waste (industrial and domestic waste) (Gouin et al, 2016). In Africa the pollution indicators are mostly noticed in the medium-sized and large cities.…”
