Polydopamine Nanosheets Doped Injectable Hydrogel with Nitric Oxide Release and Photothermal Effects for Bacterial Ablation and Wound Healing

Abstract: The development of wound dressings with combined antibacterial activities and pro-healing functions has always been an intractable medical task for treating bacterial wound infection. Herein, a novel injectable hybrid hydrogel dressing is developed, which is doped with nitric oxide (NO) donor (N,N'-di-sec-butyl-N,N'-dinitroso-1,4-phenylenediamine, BNN6) loaded two-dimensional polydopamine nanosheets (PDA NS). The hydrogel matrix is in situ formed through dynamic Schiff base crosslinking between hydrazide-modif… Show more

“…A titanium alloy was coated with PDA to improve stability and then collagen was conjugated onto the surface with the hope of facilitating soft tissue adhesion 44 . Liu and coworkers have used PDA nanosheets to fabricate multifunctional injectable hydrogel wound dressing 15 . The nanosheets were prepared by the autooxidation of dopamine in the presence of DNA.…”

“…N,N-bis(Carboxymethyl)-N,N-dinitroso-p-phenylenediamine (BNN6) is the most commonly used N-nitrosoamine. [158,159] Based on the second approach, Huang et al utilized magnesium silicate-coated upconverting nanoparticles UCNPs@MgSiO 3 based on a yolk-shell structure as a carrier to load the NO precursor BNN6 and anticancer drug DOX Figure 22. [160] UCNPs can convert NIR to UV or visible light, activating the loaded BNN6 to release NO, which avoids the phototoxicity of direct UV light excitation.…”
