Polymeric nanostructured materials for biomedical applications

Abstract: Polymeric nanostructured materials (PNMs), which are polymeric materials in nanoscale or polymer composites containing nanomaterials, have become increasingly useful for biomedical applications. In specific, advances in polymer-related nanoscience and nanotechnology have brought a revolutionary change to produce new biomaterials with tailored properties and functionalities for targeted biomedical applications. These materials, including micelles, polymersomes, nanoparticles, nanocapsules, nanogels, nanofibers,… Show more

“…The PEG coating on our QDs has been shown repeatedly to be the most highly non-interacting polymer coating for cellular environments. 21, 33 We demonstrate that heterogeneity in the actin network either manifested by cell type or by disruption of cytoarchitecture within healthy cell types results in a change in nanoparticle dynamics thus signifying that the cytoskeleton organization can act as a barrier for non-motor driven intracellular trafficking.…”

“…In particular, we highlight recent studies relating nanostructured polymer surfaces, represented by synthetic amorphous homopolymers, semicrystalline polymers, and block copolymers, and their ability to control the conformation and selectivity of protein adsorption. We have not included a discussion on 3D polymeric nanostructured materials, as this topic was recently covered in depth by Tang et al [20] …”

“…Nowadays, nanostructured materials are extensively used in many technologies due to their specific chemical and physical properties [1][2][3][4]. Nickel/iron alloys have good mechanical, electrical, and magnetic properties and a high catalytic activity for some electrochemical reactions [5][6][7].…”
