Polymeric superplasticizers based on polycarboxylates for ready-mixed concrete: current state of the art

Abstract: Chemical admixtures are one of the basic components of the contemporary concrete. The most important admixtures are superplasticizers, i.e. the modifiers which allow for high-range reducing of the water content in the concrete mix. The most effective superplasticizers are based on polycarboxylates and their derivatives. The state of the art in the range of polycarboxylate admixtures for concrete is presented in the paper. The methods of synthesis and modification of carboxylic polymers are characterized and th… Show more

“…characterized by the highest grafting ratio, while AA-3000 possess the lowest content of side chains due to its highest anionic charge. At a comparable molecular weight, higher anionic charge values are attributed to a longer backbone length of the polymer [15]. Thus, AA-3000 and AA-1100 are polymers with presumably longer backbones than AA-2000 and AM-5800.…”

“…The obtained results allowed to formulate a conclusion that the use of the lunar regolith in mortars and micro-mortars has potential, but their qualitative and quantitative compositions should be very precisely selected, especially when trying to develop compositions of lunar mortars with much lower water contents. The new generation superplasticizers (e.g., with hyperbranched polymers [45,46] or polyphosphate comb polymers [47]) of highly improved efficiency in fluidizing could prove useful in increasing lunar regolith content in cementitious composites while maintaining consistency and w/c at reasonable levels.…”

“…are It was noticed then that there a lot of substances that can dissolve poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) [1][2][3]. On the basis of the results of the research, a group of plasticizer compounds was established, which can form durable, flexible materials of PVC useful in practice for various applications [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. Plasticization has become one of the basic methods of modification of physical properties of PVC.…”
