Polymorphisms of the Immune Response Genes:selected Biological, Methodical and Medical Aspects

Abstract: Background: Variants of the immune response genes (IRG) are considered a potential source of interindividual differences in both innate and adaptive immune responses. A large number of gene polymorphisms have been reported as alternative forms of the IRG nucleotide sequence with important functional consequences for the structure/expression of immune response molecules. Accordingly, IRG polymorphisms are considered responsible for various monogenic diseases. They may also affect individual predisposition to co… Show more

“…16 Thus an individual's genetic predisposition may prevent the one from producing antibodies if exposed to a given antigen. 17 With regards to its immunogenicity and volume needed to cause sensitization, the D antigen is very immunogenic and parenteral administration of Rh D positive RBC volumes as little as 0.1ml is capable of causing sensitization in Rh D negative individuals. 18 Hence the about 220ml Rh D positive RBCs received by Madam VD was enough to cause sensitization.…”

“…Dessa forma, nos últimos anos, pesquisas envolvendo SNP funcionais encontraram associação entre a ocorrência de SNP e a suscetibilidade a diversas doenças, incluindo algumas infecções, doenças auto-imunes e inflamatórias (Dutra et al, 2009;Kubistova et al, 2009;Gregersen;Olsson, 2009). …”
