“…Polyoxometalates (POM) are a kind of metal–oxygen clusters with different sizes, structural characteristics, composition flexibility, redox activity, and multielectron transfer properties, which make them a very promising and universal candidate in the fields of catalysis, adsorption, energy storage, material science, and medicine. Based on the basic structural branches of six heteropolyanion families (Keggin, Dawson, Anderson, Lindqvist, Waugh, and Silverton) and a large number of isopolyanion structures, the development of POMs with novel topological structures has aroused great interest of researchers. , Recently, Wang’s group reported a new α–γ-type [Mo 8 O 26 ] anion based on an idealized mechanism of the intramolecular process of interconverting disparate isomers . Li et al obtained three unprecedented [MW 12 O 44 ] ( M = Ni 2+ , Co 2+ , and Fe 3+ ) clusters, in which the central heteroatoms are dispersed in 8-coordination states, bridging the 1:12 POM family of Keggin and Silverton .…”

“…Polyoxometalates (POMs) can be described as a group of transition metals in their highest oxidation state linked together by oxygen atoms with a general formula [MO x ] n , where M = Mo, W, V, and Nb, and x = 4–7, 1–3 which can form different structures of varying sizes by gradual condensation. Besides, heteroatoms such as P, Si, Al, or S and transition metal ions such as Co, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, or Ln may be present, resulting in more stable systems commonly named as archetypical groups as e.g.…”
