Polyvinyl Alcohol-based Hydrogel: A Systematic Literature Review on Thermal Properties by Differential Scanning Calorimetry

Abstract: The purpose of this systematic literature review (SLR) study is to assess the importance of thermal properties and the depth of analysis on Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) -based hydrogel. Google Scholar is used as a search for database sources using Publish or Perish software, which is related to PVA-based hydrogel’s thermal properties from 2018 to 2020. Thermal properties are focused on the DSC thermogram characteristic. These results strongly indicate that PVA-based hydrogel’s thermal properties are very important … Show more

“…BNPs-PT displayed three thermal events related to interactions between the polymers PVA and PLGA at 45.5, 56.6, and 94.89 °C. The first peak exhibited two signals at 45.5 and 56.6 °C, close to the typical endothermic peaks of PLGA and PVA’s glass transition [ 61 ]. The third peak at 94.89 °C may be related to trehalose’s crystalline nature.…”

“…Based on the search and knowledge of the author, the study of the TP of PAA-based hydrogels using SLR has never been done before. In addition, the Boolean algorithm has been used in database search using Publish or Perish (PoP) software as a new strategy for SLR studies 40 , which gives very good results when using Google Scholar as the data source because it has a maximum limit of 1000 meta-databases. Therefore, this research can provide consideration for researchers among academics or practitioners in the synthesis of materials, especially poly(acrylic acid)–based hydrogels and their copolymerized forms.…”
