Portable potentiostatic sensor integrated with neopterin-imprinted poly(ethylene- co -vinyl alcohol)-based electrode

Abstract: Neopterin is a catabolic product of guanosine triphosphate, a purine nucleotide. Measuring neopterin concentrations in biological fluids such as urine provides information about cellular immune activation in humans under control of T helper cells. A high neopterin concentration in bodily fluids, including serum and urine, indicates cellular immunity activation, which is associated with oxidative stress. In this work, neopterin is the target molecule and imprinted onto poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) via solven… Show more

“…A biosensor designed by imprinting neopterin onto poly(ethylene- co -vinyl alcohol) as template molecules was developed by Huang et al After imprinting, the template is removed, and the membrane can be used as a sensing element for electrochemical analysis of urine. The LOD for the biosensor was reported to be as low as 0.025 pg/mL [ 37 ]. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals such as diethylstilbestrol and bisphenol can disrupt naturally occurring endocrine control causing diseases and disorders such as cancer and epigenetic dysfunction.…”

“…Besides, the low-cost and portable C. Y. Huang potentiostats [5]- [7] suitable for home care applications were also proposed. Due to their emphasis merely upon the integration of potentiostats and sensors, they didn't further develop the application of potentiostatic biosensors.…”
