“…In order to interprete the decay of the benzyltrimethylsilane type radical cations two reactions are to be considered. Dinnocenzo et al 3,4 gave convincing arguments for a nucleophile driven bimolecular decay (14).…”

“…In the pulse radiolysis of pure n-butyl chloride, the optical transient absorption spectrum exhibits a broad absorption band between 350 and 650 nm (l max ¼ 500 nm) of the parent ion n-C 4 H 9 Cl þ with a life time t ¼ 140 ns. 13,14 Adding to the sample millimolar concentrations of the silanes 1 and 2 shortens t due to a pseudo-first order reaction. In the course of this reaction (6), product transient spectra appear (see Fig.…”

In case 3 one sphere completely engulfs the other, and for Rx > R2 + 0 = V1/iV1 + V2) Pn = Px (14) If, however, the two acceptor units are linked so that they are at a fixed separation a, the probability of a trapped electron surviving at time t is P"(t) = exp[-cVn(f)] (8) where now Vn(t) is the net capture volume (excluding overlap) for the difunctional species. “…Langhoff [2] and Ling et al [3] studied its spectrum theoretically, applying quantum mechanical methods. The phenanthrene radical cation was generated through γ-irradiation of the neutral molecule [4,5] or of the molecule in an isolation matrix [6]. It is known to undergo electron transfer reactions [7,8].…”
MINDO/3-FORCES calculations were carried out for the vibration frequencies and IR absorption intensities of phenanthrene radical ions. The obtained frequencies were compared with the experimental values possible. It was found that the C-H stretching frequencies are directly related to the carbon σ -electron densities of the relevant atoms.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
