“…Fresh vegetables are one of the products being transported by road. In Ethiopia, the assessment of post-harvest loss and deterioration of agricultural crops showed that the main loss occurred during harvesting, transportation and storage, approximately 15-45% [4]. Similarly, from our interview with the loss of vegetables in Thailand, the loss is about 20-50%.…”

“…Nekvapil et al [10] introduced a Raman coefficient into a linear decreasing quality decay to assess the freshness of different citrus groups. Besides, some other quantitative measures for agri-products quality decay were also investigated, for example, the Tobit regression model in Chen et al [11], Weibull distribution in Qin et al [12], the weight analysis method in Kasso et al [13], and the Gompertz model and Arrhenius equation in Bruckner et al [14].…”

“…Ahumada and Villalobos [34] established an operational model of harvest and distribution of fresh agri-products and concluded that increasing vehicles could reduce the freshness cost. Rong et al [13] presented a mixed integer linear model for food production and distribution planning in a food supply chain. Soto-Silva et al [35] proposed a programming model to optimize the purchasing, transporting, and storing decisions for a fresh apple processing plant.…”

“…However, qualitative loss in apple production can have a negative impact on different parameters like consumer acceptability, nutrient status of fruit and financial income to producers. Pests, microbial infection mostly cause Post-harvest losses and quality deterioration of horticultural crops including apple, natural ripening processes and environmental conditions such as heat, drought and improper post-harvest handling (Onyeani et al, 2012;Kasso and Bekele, 2016). However, a large number of fungicides have been reported to be effective against this particular pathogen (B. dothidea) worldwide, but intermittent and faulty use of distinct chemicals over the years has led to the development of environmental contamination and health hazards (Okigbo and Ogbomaya, 2006 For these reasons, it is necessary to develop new and effective control methodologies that are safe and show an insignificant risk to consumer health and environment.…”
