“…While PA seems like the panacea for agricultural challenges ranging from dwindling resources to environmental degradation, its penetration into the realm of small-scale farming is still in nascent stages (Fountas et al, 2015) and demands more academic exploration (Chataut et al, 2023; Gokool et al, 2023; Hedley, 2015; Perz and Wronowski, 2019). The bespoke nature of small-scale farming introduces multi-faceted barriers to the broad-based incorporation of PA (Gabriel and Gandorfer, 2023), encompassing financial constraints (Achukwu et al, 2023; Bosompem, 2021), technical know-how deficits (Yatribi, 2020), infrastructural lapses (Mdoda et al, 2022) and socio-cultural roadblocks (Alexander, 2018). As such we suggest a nuanced understanding and targeted addressing of these challenges is the linchpin for harnessing PA's potential benefits for small-scale farmers.…”
