Potential for Environmental Services Based on the Estimation of Reserved Carbon in the Mangunharjo Mangrove Ecosystem

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have an important role in terms of ecological and socioeconomic aspects. Mangrove ecosystems lie along the coast and are affected by tides [1]. Mangroves can be considered an ecosystem if a reciprocal relationship exists between fauna and flora within the environment [2]. The physical function of mangroves is to protect the coastline from abrasion caused by waves and increasing land accretion caused by sedimentation processes and serve as carbon sinks that absorb and store the atmosphere's carbon [3].
