The study perspective has changed over time, from narrowly focusing on poverty reduction to comprehensively strengthening human-welfare. We reviewed key references targeting the theoretical content and practical approach relying on poverty, environment protection and ecosystem services. “…More recently, research has focused on the quantitative modeling and spatially explicit mapping of ESs (Ayanu et al 2012;Martínez-Harms and Balvanera 2012;Hu et al 2014;Larondelle et al 2014;Sumarga and Hein 2014), trade-off and synergy analysis between multiple ESs (Rodríguez et al 2006;Wang and Fu 2013;Jia et al 2014;Kragt and Robertson 2014;Lu et al 2014;Zheng et al 2014), spatial flow analysis of ESs (Bagstad et al 2013(Bagstad et al , 2014Palomo et al 2013;Villamagna et al 2013;Schröter et al 2014;Serna-Chavez et al 2014), incorporation of ESs into conservation and restoration programs (Egoh et al 2007;Trabucchi et al 2012;, environmental decision-making and its implications Bateman et al 2013;von Stackelberg 2013;Zhen et al 2014), and assessing payment options to account for ESs (Derissen and Latacz-Lohmann 2013;Schomers and Matzdorf 2013).…”

“…Though a flow of data indicates that poverty has nothing to do with environmental degradation (Zhen, Fu, Lu, & Wang, 2014). In the article, they have discussed the contradiction views on the relationship between poverty and environmental degradation, and then elaborated the study progress of the ecosystem, which addressed the environmental protection and poverty reduction together.…”

“…This also results in an increasing pressure on the remaining natural ecosystems for resources, leading to additional overexploitation and loss of biodiversity (Hartter et al, 2011). The high rate of ecosystem degradation in the region threatens the long term delivery of many ecosystem services and the sustainable development of the region (Zhen et al, 2014).…”
