Power Control for Satellite Uplink and Terrestrial Fixed-Service Co-Existence in Ka-Band

Abstract: Abstract-A fundamental problem facing the next generation of Satellite Communications (SatComs) is the spectrum congestion and how the scarce spectral resources are allocated to meet the demand for higher rate and reliable broadband communications. In this context, this paper addresses the satellite uplink where satellite terminals reuse frequency bands of FixedService (FS) terrestrial microwave links which are the incumbent users in the Ka band. In this scenario, the transmit power of the satellite terminals … Show more

“…In both Figures 3(c) and 3(d), we observe the technique presented in [10] perfectly matches with the solution of the maximization of the sum-powers, which goes in line with the conclusion in [17]. However, this is not the optimal in terms of sum-rate neither in terms of fairness.…”

“…Figures 3(c) and 3(d) show the results of the proposed techniques and compare the result with the gradient-based power control proposed in [10], [17] with α k = 0.1, ∀k, and 200 iterations. For comparison, we solved and plotted the result of max p K k=1 w k p k , subject to p ∈ Ω, which corresponds to the maximization of the sum-power optimization.…”

“…Shi et al [21] investigated the power control problem for cognitive satellite networks with real-time service. In [22], some representative methods for power control in satellite networks were reviewed, and these methods were evaluate to the cognitive satellite networks. In [23], a power allocation solution was give to maximize the achievable rate of the cognitive satellite network.…”
