Power Load Reduction due to Impurity Radiation in ITER-like Reactor

Abstract

A model describing in a self‐consistent way the plasma dynamics both in the center and in the edge region of a fusion reactor has been used to analyze the ignition conditions and the heat removal in ITER‐FEAT like reactor for various values of additional heating and of concentrations of added impurities. The core plasma is treated within the frame of 1D radial transport model while for the region outside the last closed magnetic surface (LCMS) a 1D analytical model for plasma and impurity transport along the magnetic fields lines has been applied.
