In this letter, we propose multiple antenna selection (MAS) for switch-andexamine combining, switch-and-examine combining with post-examining selection (SECps) and selection combining (SC), respectively. The performances of these diversity combining schemes can all be improved by MAS with one RF chain. In practice, MAS is implemented by using a RF reconfigurable power combiner instead of RF switch in frontend, which keeps one RF chain and makes full use of the signals from different diversity antennas. The signals in MAS are not only from each separated antenna but also from their combinations because the RF reconfigurable power combiner can work as a RF switch as well as a RF power combiner under different control conditions. Hence, more selections can be obtained and stronger signal-to-noise ratio may be provided in MAS schemes. In addition, with the appropriate switching threshold, MAS-SECps can provide the same performance as MAS-SC while requiring less estimations.
