“…These spectra reveal three adjacent excitation bands due to intra‐configurational Pr 3+ : 4f‐4f transitions and they have been ascribed to Pr 3+ : 3 H 4 → 3 P 2 (445 nm), Pr 3+ : 3 H 4 → 3 P 1 (471 nm) and Pr 3+ : 3 H 4 → 3 P 0 (483 nm) transitions. [ 42 ] The excitation spectra of SGPPr x phosphors match with those reported for BaNb 2 O 6 :Pr 3+[ 2 ] and PbGdB 7 O 13 :Pr 3+[ 43 ] phosphors. The excitation wavelengths corresponding to Pr 3+ : 3 H 4 → 3 P J = 2,1,0 transitions cover the emission wavelength range (440–490 nm) of commercial InGaN blue‐LED chip.…”

“…These values are comparable to those reported for BaNb 2 O 6 :Pr 3+ phosphors for which the nephelauxetic ratio, bonding parameter and covalency were reported as 0.966, 0.130 and 0.035, respectively. [ 2 ] Nephelauxetic ratio,0.35emβgoodbreak=1nυitaliccomplexυfreeion Bonding parameter,0.35emtrueβ¯goodbreak=1β2 Covalency,0.35emδgoodbreak=()1ββ In the case of Pr 3+ ions, the 4f → 4f emission transitions belonging to 3 P 1 , 3 P 0 and 1 D 2 energy states to their lower lying energy states are mostly influenced by the host matrix environment. Therefore, the Pr 3+ ions in different host matrices such as phosphors, crystals and glasses [ 2,46,47 ] exhibit luminescence mainly due to 3 P 1,0 , 1 D 2 emission states.…”
