Predetermined implant positioning by means of a novel guide template technique

Abstract: This paper presents a novel guide template technique for implant placement. In esthetic implant dentistry with its restoration-driven implant placement as well as in complete-arch cases with multiple implants, the precise positioning and angulation of dental implants is crucial for achieving the desired prosthetic results. Difficulties in implant positioning may arise especially with grafted jaws resulting from communication problems between surgeon and prosthodontist. This method may alleviate some of the pro… Show more

“…When using semiactive systems, the drill axis is predetermined, and no distortion can occur. 19 The only way to transfer the exact position for each implant, as defined on the software, onto the surgical site is to keep a template in place during the surgical procedure, as is done with the Brånemark Novum technique. Because of the intact mucosa of the alveolar ridge, the template may be precisely positioned during surgery in the patient's mouth at the same position used during the CT examination.…”

“…Some foreign systems that use surgical guide have already been applied domestically [5][6][7][8]. We have developed an original CAD/CAM dental implant placement simulation and surgery support system ''BoneNavi'' by a collaborative work with a dental prostheses fabrication company.…”
