Predictive scoring model of mortality after surgical or endovascular revascularization in patients with critical limb ischemia

Abstract: Predictors of 2-year mortality after EVT or BSX in CLI patients included age >75 years, nonambulatory status, regular dialysis, and ejection fraction <50%. The BEACH score derived from these predictors allows risk stratification of CLI patients undergoing revascularization.

“…16,17,28 It is generally accepted that CLI is associated with poor patient outcome. 20,29 According to the present data, a TP < 50 mmHg, and especially a TP < 30 mmHg, is significantly associated with poor patient outcome, further supporting the malignant nature of CLI.…”

“…In a previous report, chronic heart failure and ambulatory status were not inserted into the multivariate model. 19 An association between GNRI (1 per decrements) and cardiovascular death (HR, 1.03; 95% CI 1.01e1.05) was identified in the multivariate model when inserting age, diabetes mellitus, and hemodialysis but not nonambulatory status or chronic heart failure. On the other hand, in the present study the GNRI was an independent predictor of infectious death.…”

“…Like previous reports, cardiovascular and infectious events were the main causes of death for patients with CLI in this study. 19 Previous reports mentioned the GNRI as a predictor of cardiovascular death in hemodialysis patients. 20 In this study, however, the GNRI did not predict cardiovascular death.…”

“…Thus, NV responders possessed valuables suggesting malnutrition and microinflammation, and better lipid profiles (Table 5). NV responders had similar characteristics including low ankle brachial index as the dialysis patients with peripheral artery disease do [25,26], which can evoke better response to NV treatment. Consequently, our hypothesis about the role of "biocompatibility" of NV is as follows.…”
