“…Previous studies have investigated levels of empathy in these groups. In schizophrenia patients, cognitive empathy was found to be impaired ( Montag et al, 2007 , 2020 ; Derntl et al, 2009 ; Corbera et al, 2021 ), but results regarding affective empathy were inconsistent with some studies reporting impairments in affective empathy ( Derntl et al, 2009 ; Corbera et al, 2021 ), and others finding no impairment in both behavior measures and self-rated affective empathy compared to healthy controls ( Montag et al, 2007 ; Berger et al, 2019 ). Furthermore, affective empathy has been found to be impaired in CHR compared to both schizophrenia patients and healthy controls, but cognitive empathy remained intact in this CHR group ( Montag et al, 2020 ).…”
