Abstract:IntroductionBoth ocean acidification and global warming are consequences of the rise in atmospheric CO 2 . Ocean acidification is not itself a consequence of global warming, but rather of the invasion of atmospheric CO 2 into the ocean. Time-series of carbonate chemistry measurements in different locations around the world all document the continuous and ongoing increase in the amount of CO 2 in the ocean, and the consequential accompanying decrease in surface ocean seawater pH at all sites over the last years… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
