“…Among predisposition factors, age was associated only with KPE’s intention to use LTC facilities. Older KPEs are more likely to intend to use LTC facilities as indicated by early studies with older Asian adults (McCormick et al 2002; Min 2005). The non-significant finding on age in the KBB may be in line with our finding from bivariate analysis; KPE reported a significantly higher intention to use LTC facilities than KBB.…”

Higher education appears to be consistently associated with intention to use LTC facilities (e.g., Gupta 2002; McCormick et al 2002; Min 2005; Hong 2012). However, findings about other factors are inconsistent.…”

“…More specifically, some researchers suggested that older adults' and their caregivers' attitudes influence decisions on LTC service use (Kim, 2004;Logan & Spitz, 1994;Song, 2003). For example, Min (2005) discovered a strong connection between LTC service use and attitude on care responsibility. He demonstrated that older Korean Americans with traditional values emphasizing filial piety or family care responsibility were less likely to choose formal LTC services over informal care arrangements than those with less traditional attitudes.…”

“…In addition, despite the large sample size, nearly 90% of the caregivers were White in this study. Ethnic minority caregivers differ greatly in the experience of caregiving (Chun et al, 2007) and research has consistently found lower levels of access to formal services among minority caregivers (Min, 2005). Thus, it is necessary to examine service accessibility and caregiving experiences among the minority population.…”
