Preliminary Research on the Uptake Behavior of Ammonium Molybdophosphate for Cesium and the Corresponding Structural Transformation

Abstract: In this work, Ammonium Molybdophosphate (AMP) was synthesized and the adsorption of Cs onto it under different initial pH conditions was investigated. The results show the negative effect of the hydronium and hydroxyl irons on the uptake of Cs while the iron-exchange capacity can reach 144.8 mg/g. In addition, the structure differences between AMP samples before and after Cs adsorption were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Raman technique. The results sho… Show more

“…In addition, an analysis of published data shows that ammonium salts of phosphorousmolibdenum heteropolyacid under certain conditions, can be used for the extraction of liquid radioactive waste of the lanthanides (Ce) and actinides (Am , Np) [16][17][18][19] . High selectivity of HPA salts with respect to radionuclides and high stability of natural ionizing radiation to the ion exchangers allowed using them effectively for the extraction of cesium from sea water, contaminated as a result of the accident at the Fukushima-I [16,17].…”
