Preoperative and postoperative analgesic techniques in the treatment of patients undergoing transabdominal hysterectomy: a preliminary randomized trial

Abstract: BackgroundAlthough pre-emptive analgesia is commonly used for the management of postoperative pain in developed countries, no defined protocol has been carried out and widely practiced, especially in transabdominal hysterectomy. Keeping this in mind the present study aimed to investigate the effects of multimodal pre-emptive analgesia on pain management, stress response and inflammatory factors of patients undergoing transabdominal hysterectomy to find an optimized way of pre-emptive analgesia.MethodsOne hundr… Show more

“…Current literature evaluating the impact of epidural analgesia on lymphocyte function [1315], Th1 vs. Th2 balance [16], and systemic markers of inflammation [1720] has yielded mixed results. Furthermore, oncological relevant biomarkers to measure the impact of regional anesthesia on the response to surgery have not been established.…”

“…Although opioids are an important components of postoperative pain management, they are associated with side-effects, [ 16 ] and so, the pre-emptive analgesic approach with the use of celecoxib, which has less adverse effects, has been recommended for relieving postoperative pain. [ 17 , 18 ]…”
