Preparation and corrosion behavior studies of chemically bonded phosphate ceramic coating reinforced with modified multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)

Abstract: To improve the corrosion resistance of the chemically bonded phosphate ceramic coating, the MWCNTs are selected as the reinforcement after the modification. Through the analysis of TEM, Raman, XRD, and FTIR, it can be shown that MWCNTs are modified with carboxyl groups and the surfactant after treatment, and show good dispersion. In addition, the electrochemical experiments were carried out with 3.5 wt% NaCl solution to investigate the corrosion behavior of the coatings. The results suggest that the corrosion … Show more

“…The development of novel reinforced composite materials or alteration of existing composite material to face reality is very challenging for most materials scientists (Rongli et al, 2019) Previous studies have indicated that there is a significant improvement in 74 Effect of nano-α-Al2O3 Particles on Mechanical Properties of Glass-Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Hybrid Composites mechanical properties with epoxy matrix modification (Bahereh et al, 2016). One approach to modify the polymer matrix with nil or less covalent interaction or supramolecular interaction is to incorporate metals in their nanoscale either as free metal or metal oxide (Chavali et al, 2019).…”

“…Recently, great efforts have been given to prepare coatings which can act as an effective barrier to protect the mild steel from corrosion destruction . Chemically bonded phosphate ceramic coating, among all kinds of coatings, has attracted particular attention due to its quick operation, low cost, excellent heat‐resistant property etc Various methods have been attempted to enhance the barrier property of chemically bonded phosphate ceramic coatings (CBPCs); however, what is lacking in this field is the research on the effects of coating thickness as well as etching time to the corrosion protection property of the coating.…”
