Preparation and solid acidity of zirconia-cluster/saponite composites

Abstract: Zirconia-cluster/saponite composites were prepared and evaluated as solid acid catalysts. The saponite layer was destructed in the composite through the dissolution of Al ion. The amount of zirconia-cluster in the composites was positively correlated with the Al amount, suggesting that zirconia-cluster inhibits the Al dissolution. Both the amounts of Brønsted and Lewis acids were increased by combining zirconia-cluster to saponite. Results show that Lewis acid on the saponite surface plays an important role on… Show more

“…2D) from shift 74.8 to 75.3 eV in comparison to the bare SAPO-34 also suggests a different nature of the Al species present in the shell after the super acid leaching. 33 Following, advanced magic angle spinning solid-state NMR (ssNMR) spectroscopy was performed on the SAPO and ZrS/ SAPO-34 materials. In particular, 29 Si, 31 P and 27 Al ssNMR were performed on both fresh and post-reacted catalytic materials after 50 hours on the reaction stream.…”

“…In pillared Sap, the major sources for Brønsted and Lewis sites are associated with the lattice hydroxyls of Sap and the pillars in the interlayer space of Sap. For example, Kameshima et al (2013) successfully prepared zirconia-cluster pillared Sap and revealed that both the amounts of Brønsted and…”
