“…Despite all cluster reactions involving terminal alkynes that have been described [8,35]; there are some examples of RueAu tetranuclear complex with this type of ligands [36]. The methods to produce the desire Ru 3 AueAcetylide clusters mainly have been based on reactions between [Ru 3 (CO) 12 ] or [Ru 3 (CO) 10 (NCMe) 2 ] and an Auealkynyl ligand [15,16] or between the hydride acetylide ruthenium cluster and a suitable Au fragment as AuClPPh 3 [29] or [AuPPh 3 ] 3 O þ [37]. Since the major previously reported synthetic method to prepare Ru 3 Au acetylide complexes involves the preparation of a suitable goldealkynyl precursor followed by a reaction with the Ru 3 homonuclear cluster [15,16,27,38,39], this prevents its wide use to produce this type of compounds.…”

“…Research conducted by Yam et al has explored the luminescent properties of rhenium(I) carbonyl complexes containing σ-bound acetylide moieties . The majority of reports of σ-bound alkynes incorporated into low nuclearity ( n < 10) clusters is limited, with the majority containing the coinage metals. Although there are a few examples of dimers and mixed metal clusters containing rhenium acetylides, to the best of our knowledge, there are no reports of rhenium chalcogenide clusters containing alkynyl ligands. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of three [Re 6 Se 8 ] 2+ -based σ-alkynyl containing complexes: [Re 6 Se 8 (PEt 3 ) 5 (CC–Ph)](SbF 6 ) ( 1 ) and cis - and trans -[Re 6 Se 8 (PEt 3 ) 4 (CC–Ph) 2 ] ( 2 and 3 ).…”
