Preparation, Crystal Structures and Thermal Decomposition of Ba2(EDTA) and Ba2(EDTA)·2.5H2

Abstract: The barium ethylenediaminetetraacetato (EDTA) complexes, Ba2(EDTA) and Ba2(EDTA)·2.5H2O, were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray structure determination. Ba2(EDTA) (monoclinic, P21/c, (No.14), a = 9.7651(10) Å, b = 8.0870(6) Å, c = 10.3313(11) Å, β = 118.024(4)°, V = 720.20(12) Å3, Z = 2) exhibits a layered arrangement of coordination polyhedra around barium whereas in the crystal structure of Ba2(EDTA)·2.5H2O (tetragonal, P4nc, (No.104), a = 19.7126(7) Å, c = 8.9813(4) Å, V =… Show more

“…The minimum in the decomposition temperature occurs at 2 phr, coinciding with the maximum in the decomposition enthalpy, which decreases steeply between 2 and 3 phr. Nanocomposite degradation temperature may also be affected by EDTA presence since Ba-EDTA degradation temperature is ∼ 250 ° C [31] (see Figure 5). Therefore, the degradation of POM might be attributed to a POM chain scission and depolymerization due to the presence of EDTA.…”

“…The crystal structure of Ir-EDTA exhibits many similarities with that of Ir-H4-EDTMP. [97][98][99][100] and transition [101][102][103][104][105][106][107][108][109][110] metals, as well as for some lanthanides [111] and actinides [112].…”

“…152 Several barium EDTA complexes have been hydrothermally synthesised and characterised by single-crystal X-ray structure determination. 153 155 Treatment of Ca or Sr metal with Hg(C 6 F 5 ) 2 and 2,4,6-trimethylphenol (HOmes) in DME at room temperature has resulted in C-F bond activation, to yield a unique pair of fluoro(aryloxo)alkaline earth cages. 156 A family of alkaline earth metal perfluoro-tert-butoxides has been reported which are promising candidates for metal organic chemical vapour deposition.…”
