Preparation, structure and thermal properties of CuGa5Se8

Abstract: The structural parameters, the axial thermal expansion coefficients and the characteristic Debye temperatures for the order vacancy compound CuGa 5 Se 8 with the chalcopyrite-related structure, prepared by the Bridgman technique, were determined at different temperatures between 90 and 650 K by the X-ray diffraction method. The melting point of this compound was defined from the differential thermal analysis data. The anisotropy of thermal expansion in CuGa 5 Se 8 is shown to exist with the coefficients along … Show more

“…This behavior is related to changes in the anharmonicity of thermal vibrations in CuGa 5 Se 8 crystals. The present thermal expansion results differ from the data reported in [16], where the thermal expansion of CuGa 5 Se 8 was determined by XRD. It is well known that XRD and dilatometry results differ in physical interpretation [15]: XRD provides data on the thermal expansion of the crystal lattice, while dilatometry measures the thermal expansion of the material proper.…”

“…90 The thermal expansion anisotropy of CuGa 5 Se 8 was reported with unit cell data. 91 An oxidation-state tuneable phosphor was reported: the emission colour of ZnGa 2 O 4 reportedly moves from blue to UV as a result of reduction, an increased level of oxygen vacancies and concomitant increase in ionicity of bonding increasing the overall bandgap. 92 Complexes of thiobenzhydrazones PhC(S)NHNLCHAr with GaMe 3 were investigated as luminescent devices emitting in the blue, 20 and Ga complexes of functionalised quinolines were investigated in the context of allosteric binding agents.…”
