“…Though not comparable with our own material, certain studies on the resumption of ovulation, that is, of potential fertility, should be mentioned. Tyler, Levin, Elliot & Dolman (1970) found that virtually all of twenty-seven patients ovulated within 1 year of the last injection. Lee (1969) had two patients who withdrew from the study after a single injection of DMPA and became pregnant in 7 and 8 months respectively.…”

“…Progestins have potent effects on the endometrium and their use is associated with breakthrough bleeding 43 , altered expression of basement membrane components, endometrial atrophy 44 , decreased number and size of epithelial glands, decreased stromal thickness, altered cytokeratin expression 45 , and decreased height of columnar epithelial cells 46 . Our demonstration that MPA slows wound closure by endometrial epithelial cells is consistent with those of previous studies that reported MPA inhibits migration of the Ishikawa endometrial epithelial cell line following injury via blockade of RANK/RANKL signaling, decreased vimentin expression, decreased IL-6 and TGFβ, and altered epithelial-mesenchymal transition 47,48 .…”

“…Aunque algunos investigadores han mostrado que la AMPO aumenta las concentraciones de glucosa en sangre (3,12,35), no existe un acuerdo general a este respecto (31,38,39,41 ). El análisis de este aspecto no mostró diferencias significantes en las glicemias basal y post-prandial antes y después del tratamiento.…”
