Printed 5-V organic operational amplifiers for various signal processing

Abstract: The important concept of printable functional materials is about to cause a paradigm shift that we will be able to fabricate electronic devices by printing methods in air at room temperature. One of the promising applications of the printed electronics is a disposable electronic patch sensing system which can monitor the health conditions without any restraint. Operational amplifiers (OPAs) are an essential component for such sensing system, since an OPA enables a wide variety of signal processing. Here we dem… Show more

“…Device simulation in finite element method (FEM) was carried out to investigate the carrier distribution in single-and dual-gate p-type transistors by using the mathematics module of COMSOL Multiphysics (KESCO Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) [14]. The simulation was based on the Poisson equation and the continuity equation.…”

“…While most printing techniques can provide faster fabrication processes, the rapid on‐demand modulation of W / L scale ratio in large array of devices remains as a challenge and a topic to investigate; especially for the myriad of specified circuit designs and application requirements. For instance, the tuning of the gain in each stage of an amplifier or logic circuits requires the modulation of OTFT W / L ratio. These configuration changes can be challenging, costly, and time consuming for common electrode printing techniques, such as screen printing and gravure printing .…”

“…

film transistor show device performance reaching that of amorphous Si and solution-processed metal oxides. For instance, the tuning of the gain in each stage of an amplifier [16][17][18] or logic circuits [5] requires the modulation of OTFT W/L ratio. [13][14][15] Modulation of scale ratio of devices in a large array is one of the important parameters that governs circuit design.

“…A transimpedance amplifier is often defined as a current-tovoltage (I -V) converter. In recent research, differential or transimpedance amplifiers have been fabricated with solutionbased methods on flexible substrates, with working voltage in the range from -5V to 5V, with voltage gain in the range from 1 to 50 [13][14][15].…”
