Printed log‐periodic trapezoidal dipole array antenna with a balun‐feed for ultra‐wideband applications

Abstract: The authors present design of a printed log‐periodic trapezoidal dipole array (PLPTDA) antenna with a balun‐feed operating throughout the 2–18 GHz frequency range. For this purpose, the antenna is designed and simulated in the CST Microwave Studio environment. Thus, better directivity along the operation bandwidth is achieved via the iterative simulations with a 33.33% reduction in the dipole length at the lowest frequency 2 GHz as compared with the counterpart standard log‐periodic antennas. Furthermore, they… Show more

“…8 . Zengin et al [ 36 ] developed an RFEH system that employs a loop RA and differential drive rectifier, achieving maximum output voltage of 2.31 V from GSM-900 transmitter. Similarly, RFEH developed with a wideband quasi-isotropic patch RA is capable of harvesting a maximum voltage of 1.2 V at a long distance of 5800 m from the TV and FM transmitters [ 96 ].…”

“…8. Zengin et al [36] developed an RFEH system that employs a loop RA and differential drive rectifier, achieving maximum output voltage of 2.31 V from GSM-900 transmitter. Similarly, RFEH developed based devices are primarily low-power devices as discussed in Table 1, using full-wave rectifiers with the fewest possible stages is highly advantageous when aiming to achieve maximum PCE and minimize the overall size of the system [63,83].…”

“…A wideband cavity backing unidirectional LP antenna is proposed in [ 45 ] to obtain enhanced efficiency in a wide frequency range, as well as a better impedance matching at the low-frequency band. Moreover, to simplify the feeding structure and reduce the antenna footprint, a printed LP monopole [ 46 ] and trapezoidal dipole [ 47 ] antenna array was proposed. Among LP antennas, the sinuous ones have gained lot attention as they can minimize the reflections coming from the antenna ends [ 48 ].…”
