Prioritization of Contracting Methods for Water and Wastewater Projects Using the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process Method

Abstract: This study uses the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) method to prioritize contracting methods to determine the most suitable contract option for water and wastewater projects (WWP). Content analysis, a two-round Delphi survey technique, and a series of validation and reliability tests helped establish the 18 key criteria for FAHP analysis. Consequently, data collected from experts through a pairwise comparison questionnaire form the basis for the inputs for the FAHP analysis. Consequently, the final w… Show more

“…In a 2021 study, researchers used the FAHP method to prioritize the contracting methods needed to determine the most suitable contracting option for water and wastewater projects (WWP) [34]. Finally, another recent work is reported in which SWOT techniques were combined with the AHP to identify the essential elements influencing the implementation of the IWRM in the Philippines [35].…”

“…For example, Sarvari et al [17] applied a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) method to prioritize contracting methods to determine the most suitable contract option for water and wastewater projects. The results of this study can help the top level of management to choose the best method of contracting different types of projects.…”

“…The original questionnaire comprises a total of 72 items and was developed for the utilization of the Delphi method. Subsequently, the initial questionnaire was distributed to a panel of 14 experts [45,46]. The present study employed a purposive sampling technique to pick survey participants, an approach that has been utilized by previous scholars in comparable research domains [33].…”
