PRISM-games: A Model Checker for Stochastic Multi-Player Games

Abstract: Abstract. We present PRISM-games, a model checker for stochastic multi-player games, which supports modelling, automated verification and strategy synthesis for probabilistic systems with competitive or cooperative behaviour. Models are described in a probabilistic extension of the Reactive Modules language and properties are expressed using rPATL, which extends the well-known logic ATL with operators to reason about probabilities, various reward-based measures, quantitative properties and precise bounds. “…PRISM provides direct support for DTMCs, MDPs and CTMCs, as well as two additional models not discussed here, probabilistic timed automata (PTAs) and stochastic multi-player games (SMGs), the latter via the tool PRISMgames [11]. The models are specified using a high-level modelling language based on guarded command notation.…”

“…The effect of mobility and transmission range on energy consumption was considered for mobile process calculi frameworks in [27]. The quantitative analysis of a smartgrid protocol using PRISM-games [10,11], a PRISM extension for stochastic games, revealed a flaw, which was fixed by introducing incentives to prevent selfishness.…”

“…Thus, strategy synthesis is the process of constructing a winning strategy for the controller that will satisfy the desired objective in an adversarial environment. Benefit from the development of several tools (such as UPPAAL-TIGA, 12 UPPAAL-STRATEGO, 13 and PRISM-games 14,15 ) is that strategy synthesis has been applied successfully to the real-life case studies. [16][17][18] The scientific contribution of this article can be summarized as follows:…”

“…Existing short tool papers focusing on the functionality added in versions 1.0 and 2.0 of PRISM-games were presented in [13] and [34], respectively. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the full tool, including detailed examples of the modelling and property specification and summaries of the key theory and algorithms.…”
