Prison Rehabilitation Programs and Recidivism

Abstract: Increasing evidence suggests that incarceration can improve the social reintegration of inmates in some circumstances. Yet, the mechanisms through which incarceration may favor rehabilitation remain unknown. This paper exploits variations in program availability to estimate their effects.
