Privacy‐preserving authentication scheme for digital twin‐enabled autonomous vehicle environments

Abstract: Currently, the automotive industry has entered a period of considerable advancement, shifting towards the development of safe, comfortable, and connected autonomous vehicles. However, the need for real‐time sensing, computation, and communication may lead to information overflow in autonomous cars, resulting in data redundancy. Furthermore, anticipating traffic conditions beyond a vehicle's field of view can be quite difficult owing to the restricted range of communication systems. To solve these problems, dig… Show more

“…The scheme [15] and scheme [17] separately propose privacy-preserving authentication mechanisms to achieve secure data transmission between physical vehicles and digital twins. Li et al [14] utilize the extended Chebyshev chaotic maps to design multifactor authentication and secure data transmission protocol between digital twin and physical vehicles.…”

“…Therefore, ensuring secure and privacy-preserving data sharing within the VDTN is a crucial challenge. Currently, there are several works aim at achieving secure data transmission and sharing in VDTN [14][15][16][17][18], [19], and [20]. The schemes [15][16][17] are more focused on secure data transmission between PV and DT via intra-twin communication.…”

“…In addition, the limited range of current communication technologies makes it challenging to anticipate traffic conditions outside of a vehicle's line of sight. Autonomous driving conditions have seen the development of digital twin systems to address these concerns [12]. Sensitive information about drivers is easily intercepted and altered since the data created by automobiles in motion with servers is carried on public networks.…”
