Abstract:The data series of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service and National Centers for Environmental Prediction (http://www.iers.org/maindisp.cs1?pid=43 1100116) for 1982-2003 are analyzed. It is shown that the atmospheric component of polar motion can be treated as the anisotropic Markov process with discrete time, and the torque exerted by the atmosphere on the solid Earth, as the white noise. The intensity and characteristic correlation time of the process are estimated. The efficiency o… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
