Wind speed follows the Weibull probability distribution and wind power can have a significant influence on power system voltage stability. In order to research the influence of wind plant correlation on power system voltage stability, in this paper, the stochastic response surface method (SRSM) is applied to voltage stability analysis to establish the polynomial relationship between the random input and the output response. The Kendall rank correlation coefficient is selected to measure the correlation between wind farms, and the joint probability distribution of wind farms is calculated by Copula function. A dynamic system that includes system node voltages is established. The composite matrix spectral radius of the dynamic system is used as the output of the SRSM, whereas the wind speed is used as the input based on wind farm correlation. The proposed method is compared with the traditional Monte Carlo (MC) method, and the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed approach is verified using the IEEE 24-bus system and the EPRI 36-bus system. The simulation results also indicate that the consideration of wind farm correlation can more accurately reflect the system stability.

Abstract. This paper discusses the influence of random factors on power system based on theories of stochastic differential equations (SDE). Firstly, we build a stochastic power system model using the power fluctuation as random excitation, and then analyze the stochastic stability of stochastic power system. Next, based on four machine two area system, we get the dynamic curve of rotor angle of multi-excitation system through dynamic simulation. Finally, the power spectrum analysis shows that random excitation can induce regional weakly damped oscillation mode.

When large wind farms are centrally integrated in a power grid, cascading tripping faults induced by voltage issues are becoming a great challenge. This paper therefore proposes a concept of static voltage security region to guarantee that the voltage will remain within operation limits under both base conditions and N-1 contingencies. For large wind farms, significant computational effort is required to calculate the exact boundary of the proposed security region. To reduce this computational burden and facilitate the overall analysis, the characteristics of the security region are first analyzed, and its boundary components are shown to be strictly convex. Approximate security regions are then proposed, which are formed by a set of linear cutting planes based on special operating points known as near points and inner points. The security region encompassed by cutting planes is a good approximation to the actual security region. The proposed procedures are demonstrated on a modified nine-bus system with two wind farms. The simulation confirmed that the cutting plane technique can provide a very good approximation to the actual security region.
