Probing heavy charged fermions at e+e− collider using the optimal observable technique

Abstract: In this work we study the production of color-neutral and singly-charged heavy leptons at the proposed International Linear Collider. We use the optimal observable technique to determine the statistical accuracy to which the coupling of such fermions to the Z gauge boson (vector, axial or chiral) can be measured. We also consider a UV-complete model that contains these particles as well as a dark matter candidate, and consider some observable effects involving both; the correspondence to chargino production in… Show more

“…Investigation of top quark interaction at γγ collider [58][59][60], measurement of top-Yukawa couplings at LHC [61], muon collider [62] and eγ collider [63] have also been done in context of OOT. Recent work on OOT includes the Z couplings of heavy charged fermions at e + e − colliders [64] as well as exploring NP effects in flavor physics scenarios [65][66][67]. In this work, we opt for this powerful technique to estimate the sensitivity of NP couplings by using above described CM energy and integrated luminosity at CLIC.…”

“…In this section we provide a brief summary of the derivation of the statistical uncertainties of the NP physics in the OOT approach. The results here are a straightforward extension of the OOT expression obtained in [46,47,64]; the derivation is summarized in the appendix.…”

“…A few works have appeared using this approach in top-quark physics at the LHC [58][59][60] and various aspects of flavour physics [61][62][63]. Recently, the OOT has been used in studying heavy charged fermion [64] production and and di-boson production [65] at the e + e − collider.…”

“…Inspiration from the study of compressed spectra has lead researchers to explore new kinematic variables where signatures for new physics may be lurking and to devise ways and means of exploiting the existent data to the maximum using such variables [337,[855][856][857][858][859][860][861][862][863][864][865][866][867][868][869][870][871]. Inevitably, such searches have led to the use of machine learning tools to sift and find patterns in the data.…”
