Probing light vector mediators with coherent scattering at future facilities

Enrico Bertuzzo,
Giovanni Grilli di Cortona,
Lucas Magno D. Ramos

Abstract: Future experiments dedicated to the detection of Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering may be powerful tools in probing light new physics. In this paper we study the sensitivity on light Z mediators of two proposed experiments: a directional low pressure Time Projection Chamber detector, νBDX-DRIFT, that will utilize neutrinos produced at the Long Baseline Neutrino Facility, and several possible experiments to be installed at the European Spallation Source. We compare the results obtained with existing … Show more

“…In this paper we first consider the so-called universal Z model in which all the standard fermions have the same charge [6,12,14,15,26,70,71]. This model is not anomaly-free per JHEP05(2022)109…”

“…However, it is possible to consider effective anomalous models that describe the interactions of SM fermions with the implicit requirement that the anomalies are canceled by the contributions of the non-standard fermions of the full theory. This is the case of the first model that we consider: a Z boson which couples universally to all SM fermions [6,12,14,15,26,70,71]. In this case…”

“…Relevant limits on light mediators have also been obtained from CEνNS searches using reactor neutrinos at CONUS [186], CONNIE [187], and the Dresden-II reactor experiment [149,150,188]. Proposals for similar searches have been put forward at the European Spallation Source [159,189] and at Los Alamos National Laboratory [190].…”
