The utilization of wastewater from livestock farming (WLF) represents a common agricultural practice, but the absence of research on its agronomic impacts hinders its sustainable implementation. This study assesses the reutilization of WLF combined with nitrogen fertilization on the morphological, bromatological, and productivity attributes of a Tifton 85 pasture during the winter season. The study involved the application of different types of water via sprinkler: (I) stream water; (II) mixture of WLF and stream water at a 1:1 ratio; and (III) undiluted WLF combined with mineral nitrogen fertilization (0 and 45 kg N ha-1) administered at the commencement of the regrowth period. Irrigation was applied on a weekly basis, totaling 2,440 m3 ha-1. At 106 days post-regrowth, parameters including forage productivity, height, leaf-stem ratio, leaf area index, nitrogen nutrition index, crude protein content, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber, and mineral matter content were determined. Mineral fertilization at the prescribed dosage (45 kg N ha-1) did not have any discernible impact on the parameters under investigation. On average, the reuse of WLF raised the productivity from 2.50 to 5.12 t ha-1 and the Crude Protein from 12.35% to 14.58% compared to stream water. The reuse of WLF demonstrated superior outcomes (p < 0.01) in terms of pasture productivity, nutritional quality, and nitrogen accumulation compared to irrigation solely with stream water. The reuse of diluted WLF (1:1) without fertilization proved adequate to sustain Tifton 85 pastures during the winter season in the Brazilian Cerrado region. This study aimed to evaluate the chemical-bromatological composition of fresh grass and hay from Tifton 85 cut at different times of the day, as well as the potential losses from haymaking. The experimental design was a randomized block, assessing three cutting times: 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. We determined the contents of dry matter, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, crude protein, protein insoluble in neutral detergent, acid detergent lignin, and in vitro digestibility of the collected samples. We also estimated values for cellulose, hemicellulose, non-fibrous carbohydrates, total carbohydrates, and total digestible nutrients of both fresh forage and hay. Losses of each nutritional component due to haymaking were calculated from the fresh and dried material after 72 h. Cutting time influenced the nutritional composition of Tifton 85 grass; grass cut at 2:00 pm exhibited a superior nutritional profile with higher in vitro digestibility of dry matter (73.22%), total digestible nutrients (69.15%), non-fiber carbohydrates (20.37%), and lower levels of neutral detergent fiber (67.75%) and cellulose (31.92%). Differences in haymaking losses were observed only for non-fiber carbohydrates at 2:00 pm, with a loss of 60.41%. The cutting time of Tifton 85 alters the quality of fresh forage but does not significantly affect the composition of hays produced from grass cut at various times of the day.

A distribuição irregular das chuvas e as baixas temperaturas no inverno costumam limitar a produtividade das forrageiras tropicais. A irrigação pode ser utilizada para atenuar estas adversidades climáticas. Assim, esta pesquisa foi implantada com o objetivo de avaliar as características produtivas (produtividade, composição botânica e sazonalidade de produção) dos principais gêneros de forrageiras tropicais (Megathyrsus maximus cv. Mombaça, Urochloa Brizantha cv. MG-5 e Cynodon spp cv. Tifton 85), com e sem irrigação, no período de 20 fevereiro 2020 a 23 fevereiro 2021. O experimento foi realizado na Área Experimental de Irrigação da Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi de blocos casualizados em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com quatro repetições. As parcelas foram estabelecidas com e sem irrigação e as subparcelas formadas pelos capins. Os ciclos de coleta ocorreram a cada 28 dias, avaliando-se: produtividade, percentagem de material morto, relação folha/colmo e relação entressafra/safra. Todos os capins apresentaram produtividade de matéria seca maior com irrigação, obtendo os seguintes valores: 124,4 kg ha-1dia-1 para o capim MG-5, 135,1 kg ha-1dia-1 para o capim Mombaça e 98,8 kg ha-1dia-1 para o capim Tifton 85. A irrigação teve efeitos diferentes sobre a relação folha/colmo e porcentagem de material morto dos capins. A relação entressafra/safra foi maior com irrigação para todos os capins, destacando-se o Tifton 85 com valor igual a 0,83.
