Prognostic Model to Predict Survival Outcome for Curatively Resected Liposarcoma: A Multi-Institutional Experience

Abstract: Purpose: We performed this study to analyze the clinical features and prognosis of Korean patients with liposarcoma.Patients & Methods: Between October 1986 and April 2013, 231 patients who were diagnosed with liposarcoma by histologic examination were enrolled in this study. Results: The distribution of histologic subtypes was well-differentiated (n = 97, 42%), myxoid (n = 74, 32%), dedifferentiated (n = 32, 13.9%), pleomorphic (n = 15, 6.5%), and round-cell liposarcoma (n = 13, 5.6%). The majority of liposarc… Show more

“…This finding only partially reflects prior observations in previous studies of lower incidences of LS of the lower extremities, which were higher for retroperitoneal localizations [1517]. In addition, the present study did not demonstrate that the extremity sites had a significantly favourable survival compared with retroperitoneal sites, as stated before [8].…”

“…Regarding to histologic distribution of liposarcoma in this study, well differentiated and de-differentiated type were the most common types. This is concurrent with previous report of Oh et al [16]. Which analyzed 213 patients' survival for liposarcoma regarding to histologic subtypes and primary sites.…”

“…The most of study did not analyze soft tissue sarcoma and bone sarcoma together because of its different subtypes, different natural history and different response to therapy [16][17][18]. However, this study was conducted distribution and survivorships analysis together.…”

“…The prognoses and treatment outcomes of liposarcomas are remarkably heterogeneous, and depend on histologic differentiation [28,29]. Although pazopanib did not achieve primary efficacy [19], gemcitabine/docetaxel elicited antitumor responses, especially in pleomorphic liposarcomas [17].…”
