Programmable reflectors for SAW-ID-tags

Abstract: Abslract -Surface acoustic wave devices for identification systems (SAW-ID-tags or SAW wireless labels) have a large potential for future applications. We concentrate in this paper on reflective SAW-IDtags with amplitude modulation. We use splitfinger interdigital transducers as reflecting structures. If the transducers are short circuited or capacitivly loaded the reflection disappears almost entirely. On the other hand, if an open circuit or inductive load is used, the lDTs reflect incoming SAWS. The coding o… Show more

“…The mean of the electron-recoil band turns below one at small energies due to scintillator non-proportionality [3]. A population of events above the electron-recoil band, called excess-light events, is attributed to external radiation emitting additional light in the scintillating foil [4] (Color figure online) detector resolution yields a more precise measurement of the LY, resulting in narrower bands. This extends the range of high-significance discrimination to lower energies.…”

“…The one-port SAW delay line is consisted of inter-digital transducers (IDTs) connected to an antenna, shorted-grating reflector as reference, and split-type reflectors connected with varicap diode C load , which makes wireless and battery-free measurement system possible. A change in the voltage-controlled capacitance C load by electrical neural pulses induces perturbation of the reflected responses at split-type reflector on one-port SAW delay line as follows [20][21][22][23][24],…”

“…The main feature of SAW RFID tags (Reindl & Ruile, 1993;Schmidt et al, 1994;Plessky et al 1995;Reindl et al, 1998;Hartmann, 2002) is that they do not use any autonomous power supply such as batteries. Moreover, they do not include any such circuitry that would need to be powered.…”
