“…On the other hand, considerable attention has also been given to copper catalysis in the field of cross-coupling reactions during the last decade, owing the low cost of the catalysts, good functional group tolerance, high abundance, and low toxicity. “…Some reviews summarized recent advances in copper-catalyzed C H functionalization. [62,63] For over a century, copper-mediated reactions have played an important role in organic chemistry, as evidenced by numerous important transformations and name reactions. Indeed, Ullmann-type reactions can be thought of as forerunners of modern cross-couplings.…”

“…Subsequently, this protocol was extrapolated by several groups using other metals or metal-free conditions via the single electron activation of aryl carboxylic acids ( Scheme 1 A). ( Bhunia et al., 2019 ; Dai et al., 2015 ; Li et al., 2013 , 2018 ; Ramirez et al., 2015 ; Shao et al., 2018 ; Tao et al., 2018 ; Wang et al., 2014 ; Yang et al., 2018 ; Zhang et al., 2018a , 2018b ) Although soluble copper complexes or copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) have been used for the C‒H functionalization ( Aneeja et al., 2020 ; Guo et al., 2015b ), the use of inexpensive bulk Cu catalyst is extremely rare ( Guo et al., 2015a ; Meng et al., 2020 ). Recent efforts to bridge the gap between hetero- and homogeneous catalysis for improved catalytic activity, selectivity, and cost efficiency is prevailing ( Copéret et al., 2003 ; Cui et al., 2018 ; Liu and Corma, 2018 ; Van Velthoven et al., 2020 ).…”
